The loss on Friday night against Belton (28-21) definitely is NOT pleasant, but Coach told the team that he was proud of how hard they played, and they can fix the mistakes they made. And of course, the team was right back at it on Saturday morning while many of us were lying in bed! #BuildingChampions #HornetProud

Great news! The Huntsville FFA chapter at Huntsville High School has been awarded $4,575 as part of the "Grants for Growing" program! The nationwide program, sponsored by Tractor Supply Company, provides grant funds to local FFA chapters to support the development or improvement of agricultural education projects that enhance the classroom experiences for students through chapter engagement activities. Huntsville FFA plans to use this money to show students to explore the poultry industry- learning how chickens are used in egg production as well as in meat production- by doing exactly that! You may remember that last year, Mr. McGinty was able to introduce students to these concepts by having them raise chickens here at the school...and that our local Tractor Supply helped him out with donations at the very beginning! The students’ goal is to find what breeds and feeding program does best for producing high quality eggs and what breeds and feed program produces the best meat. Students will learn day to day care of chickens, track their weights weekly, be able to collect eggs once our hens start laying, and learn processing techniques on the broilers. These are practices students will be able to take home with them and have their own backyard chicken farm. Congratulations, and thank you Tractor Supply Co. for supporting our students! #AgEd #HornetProud #BuildingChampions #TractorSupplyCo

8/24/2023 @ 9 PM - HISD UPDATE: Dear Huntsville ISD Parents and Guardians: We wanted to provide you with additional information about the incident that took place today at Huntsville High School. Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students and staff, and we appreciate your understanding and support throughout this situation. Earlier today, the Huntsville Police Department received information from a 24-hour suicide hotline about a bomb threat targeting Huntsville High School. We immediately activated our emergency protocols and began the campus evacuation process in coordination with law enforcement. We'd like to address some key points that have come to light since our initial communication: Immediate Response: The Huntsville Police Department and other law enforcement agencies swiftly informed campus administration about the threat, leading to the prompt initiation of evacuation procedures. Misinformation on Social Media: Unfortunately, some misinformation surfaced on social media during the evacuation. Fictitious posts claiming a shooting had occurred or due to hearing loud sounds caused some students to run, which is not in line with our safety protocols. Thorough Campus Sweep: Law enforcement completed a comprehensive search of the campus and confirmed that there was no actual bomb or firearm on the premises. The incident appears to have been triggered by a hoax and exacerbated by false statements and rumors on social media. Investigation: The Huntsville Police Department is actively investigating the source of the threat. If you have any information that could assist in this investigation, please report it to the appropriate authorities. Support for Students: We understand that this incident has been distressing for our students. To provide support, counselors will be available at the school to speak with students tomorrow morning. We want to ensure that our students have the opportunity to process their feelings and concerns. Continual Improvement: We are committed to collaborating closely with local law enforcement agencies to enhance our safety protocols and communication strategies. Our goal is to continuously improve our response plans for situations like this. We want to express our gratitude for your cooperation and understanding during this challenging time. Your trust in us is invaluable as we work together to maintain a safe and secure environment for our school community. We will keep you updated as any new information becomes available. Thank you for your ongoing support. Huntville ISD

At approximately 1:20 pm today, Huntsville High School Administration received notification from the Huntsville Police Department that there was a bomb threat made against the campus.  Following our safety protocols, the campus was Evacuated and all students and staff were transported by school bus to the Sam Houston State University Coliseum where a reunification site had been established.  Per law enforcement recommendation, Huntsville Elementary, Scott Johnson Elementary and the Hawkins Administration Building were put on SECURE status as a precaution.   Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the high school and assisted with the security and sweeping of the building.  Once it was determined that there was no threat, the campus was given the All Clear to return to campus at approximately 4:15 pm.  All Huntsville High School and Mance Park Middle School after school activities and extracurriculars including ball games scheduled for the day were canceled. The safety of our students and staff will always be our top priority at ALL campuses.  We appreciate the quick implementation of campus safety protocols and actions by our staff, campus administrators and law enforcement throughout today’s event.

HHS Students and Staff have been evacuated to Sam Houston State University Coliseum located at 1964 Bobby K Marks Drive. If you are a parent of a car rider you can pick up your student from the coliseum at regular school dismissal time. Please follow all directions and signs. Be sure you have your ID/Drivers License with you to receive your student. All afternoon bus riders will be transported back to the Transportation Department at regular dismissal time to get on their homebound buses and delivered home. We do not know when the HHS parking lot will reopen to students who drove to school, so those students may also be picked up at the coliseum at regular dismissal time. Thank you very much.
