HOLIDAY REMINDER:

All Huntsville ISD Campuses and Facilities will be CLOSED on Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Parents should make alternative arrangements for any child care needed due to the closure.

School resumes Tuesday, September 8.

WEATHER UPDATE #3 @ 9:30 PM | Huntsville ISD Monitoring Tropical Storm Edouard

Huntsville ISD continues to closely monitor the impact of Tropical Storm Edouard on our immediate area. Based on current information, we expect normal school operations for tomorrow, Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

The HISD Transportation Department will evaluate local road conditions overnight and early in the morning. Should conditions warrant a change at that time, we will send communication no later than 5:30 AM.

Updates will also be shared on the district website and social media pages. Please take all necessary precautions to keep your family safe, especially if you reside in areas prone to flooding.

We wanted to provide a quick reminder regarding Huntsville ISD’s Student Dress Code. Please review the attached graphic for additional clarification.

Our goal is to partner with families to maintain a positive, respectful, and distraction-free learning environment where all students can focus on learning and success.

We recognize that hairstyles and hair color can be an important form of self-expression. However, district dress code expectations are established to contribute to a safe and distraction-free professional learning environment. All students are expected to dress neatly and respectfully in ways that contribute to the academic atmosphere. This expectation prohibits dress and grooming that may be distracting. This includes hair color that is extreme and that is not naturally occurring, such as blue, green, pink, purple, etc., which are not permitted.

To allow families time to make any necessary adjustments, students will have a grace period through Friday, August 28, to meet the hair color expectation.

If there are extenuating circumstances, please contact your student’s administrator so we can work with your family.

Administrators, teachers, and other school personnel share responsibility for enforcing the student dress code and shall follow campus procedures for handling dress code violations

The first day back has been absolutely amazing!!! Our Hornets entered the building today with so much pride and joy to be back in school.

Reminder that it's now a Texas law that Personal Communication Devices are not allowed in school during the instructional day. All devices must be turned off and put away in a backpack.

New Participation Guidelines for the 2026–2027 School Year.
When we say academics matter, our expectations must reflect that commitment.

Beginning this school year, Huntsville ISD students must meet district attendance requirements to participate in extracurricular and co-curricular activities.

STUDENT REGISTRATION
Huntsville ISD Online Student Registration is OPEN for all NEW and RETURNING students for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. We encourage families to log into your parent portal account in the Skyward Family Access Center to complete the entire registration process as soon as possible to ensure a smooth start.

SOCIOECONOMIC FORM
Lunch Income Survey - We must have a completed Socioeconomic form submitted for each student. The form is located in the Skyward Family Access Center and the tab icon for the form is labeled “2026-2027 SOCIOECONOMIC INFORMATION FORM”.

TRANSPORTATION REGISTRATION
ALL Students - NEW & RETURNING - MUST Register to Ride the School Bus before being able to ride. Bus Registration can also be found in the Skyward Family Access Center.
*The Student Registration process for school must be completed for the 2026-2027 (New or Returning) before completing the 2026-2027 Bus Registration Form.

The deadline to guarantee bus transportation for the first day of school (August 1) has now passed.

However, you can still register your student to ride the bus!

Any bus registrations submitted now will be processed after the first week of school. Once your registration is approved, your student will be cleared to ride.

NOTE: Parents, if you have already completed the Student Registration process but not the Socioeconomic Form or the Transportation Registration, please log back into your Skyward Family Access Center parent portal and click on the appropriate icons to complete the other required registration steps.

The purpose of the Hall of Champions is to acknowledge the outstanding lifetime achievements of FORMER Huntsville Hornets in a variety of categories. The honor reflects PERSONAL and PROFESSIONAL accomplishments, as well as larger contributions to our society at a local, state, national, or international level. Honorees are ROLE MODELS and represent Champions in Life - the “BEST of the BEST” among Hornet Alumni, former HISD employees, and former HISD trustees.

Submit your nominations TODAY! The nomination deadline is FRIDAY, AUGUST 14, 2026, to be considered for this fall's recognition.

Effective Monday, July 27, 2026, the Huntsville ISD Hawkins Administration Building will operate from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This schedule adjustment will help us better support our campuses by ensuring district leadership and administrative resources are available earlier in the day, when schools need them most.
