Spotlight on Stewart
Congratulations goes to Stewart Elementary!
The Texas Education Agency recently announced that Stewart Elementary is being recognized for outstanding academic performance and is receiving a No Child Left Behind Title 1, Part A Distinguished Performance Award by the Division of NCLB Program Coordination at TEA. Stewart, among other Region VI Distinguished campuses will be recognized for their accomplishments by Education Service Center, Region VI later this spring.
We are so proud of Stewart’s Administration, Faculty and Students for achieving this great honor! Keep up the GREAT work!
HISD Good News!
HISD recently received some Good News from TASB! The final results are now available from the Employee Opinion Survey that each of our 897 employees were invited to participate in from November 19-December 7, 2009. 649 employees actually participated in the survey for a total response rate of 72% and this is AWESOME. The bottom line of the survey shows that "the majority of employees in Huntsville ISD are basically happy and would recommend the District as a good place to work." We thank all of our employees who participated and are happy that they are happy!!!

T-STEM Grant
HISD receives $480,000 grant to fund a new T-STEM Academy!!!! This Science Math Academy will be an independent campus housed at HHS. Registration begins in the Spring with classes scheduled to start in the Fall. Be on the look out for more information to be sent home with students as well as scheduled informational meetings for parents and the community. We are providing this access through our Pinnacle Internet Viewer (PIV) feature. This secured access requires an Internet connection and a confidential user name and password issued to the parent by your child's school.
