The "Road to Austin" ran directly through Huntsville ISD Stadium yesterday, as the Hornets played both competitor and host for the 2026 UIL Area Championships District 17-5A & 18-5A Meet.
13 schools that competed in the Area meet:
District 17-5A: Brenham, Bryan Rudder, College Station, A&M Consolidated, Huntsville, Montgomery, and Montgomery Lake Creek.
District 18-5A: Crosby, Dayton, Humble Kingwood Park, New Caney Porter, New Caney West Fork, and Splendora.
Each athlete is fueled by the singular goal of finishing in the top four to punch their ticket to the Regional meet.
For those student athletes who placed in the top four, the journey continues at the 5A Region III Championships. That meet is scheduled for May 1–2 at the Clear Creek ISD Challenger Columbia Stadium in Webster.
While the 5A athletes head to Webster, Huntsville ISD Stadium won’t be quiet for long. The venue prepares to host the 3A Region III Championships during that same weekend, May 1–2.
