Seeks Approval for Free Meals for All Students
HUNTSVILLE, TX – Huntsville ISD Child Nutrition Services announced today that the department is currently not accepting meal applications for the 2025–2026 school year while it seeks to secure approval from the Texas Department of Agriculture, Region 6 for a new meal provision.
The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) is a federal program that allows qualifying school districts to offer free breakfast and lunch to all enrolled students—regardless of household income—for the entire school year. If approved, Huntsville ISD will be able to provide these meals to families at no cost, eliminating the need for traditional meal applications.
Approval is currently pending, and the district will provide updates as soon as a decision is made. In the meantime, Child Nutrition Services looks forward to serving all students starting on the first day of school, Wednesday, August 13, 2025, until further notice.
