The safety of our students and staff will always be of the utmost importance to us. Campus safety is a focus of our Board and Administration and we have made many efforts and upgrades to help secure entrances and vestibules along with adding security cameras and processes throughout our schools. Huntsville ISD is proud to have a wonderful partnership with the Huntsville Police Department and we appreciate the large law enforcement presence in Walker County. Working together we will all continue to strive to provide protection for the District’s students, employees, and facilities. The Huntsville ISD School Police Officers provide regular active shooter training for our staff as well as other safety related drills to help us all be as prepared as we can be to respond to safety concerns. Huntsville ISD is diligent in providing a safe learning environment for all.
Our greatest safety measure; however, is vigilance. We encourage all students, staff, parents and local citizens to report any suspicious activity, suspected dangers, or safety concerns to the appropriate authorities. Harassment, Violence, Discrimination or Bullying Reporting
The Huntsville Independent School District prohibits discrimination, including harassment, against any student on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, gender, national origin, disability, age, or any other basis prohibited by law. The District prohibits dating violence, as defined by this policy. Retaliation against anyone involved in the complaint process is a violation of District policy and is prohibited.If you or someone you know has experienced harassment, violence, discrimination, or bullying at school or at any school-related event for any reason, you may make a report to have the incident(s) investigated by the district. Any student, parent/guardian, or district employee may complete this form and return it to any administrator, or counselor.Alternatively, you may make a verbal or other written report to an administrator, or counselor. Any district employee who receives a completed report form or any other written or verbal report will immediately notify the complaint to the school principal or Title IX coordinator of the report, who will designate the person to investigate and resolve the report pursuant to the district's policies and federal and state laws.The district will not disclose the identity of any individual who makes a report, except to the district personnel designated to investigate the report or as required by law. Retaliation against any individual who makes a report or who participates or assists in an investigation of harassment, violence, discrimination, or bullying is strictly prohibited.Use the online form to submit your report. Safety is Huntsville ISD’s top priority and that’s why we have refined how we communicate in times of crisis or emergency through the use of the Standard Response Protocol (SRP).
Thousands of schools have adopted this program, created by the “I Love u Guys Foundation.” The goal is to use a standard language with terminology that everyone can understand and follow.
Of course, the key is to train and practice. Throughout the year, students and staff can expect safety drills to help ensure everyone is familiar with the Standard Response Protocol (SRP).

Inclement Weather Events & Notifications:

Always expect normal school operations unless the District sends official notification for any change.
Huntsville ISD Adminstration contantly monitors the weather forcasts for our immediate area and communicates on a regular bases with the Walker Office Of Emergency Managements. For all inclement weather events, we urge parents and students to stay vigilant. Sending private messages to District social media pages inquiring about weather status and updates is not recommended. Instead, please frequently monitor the District website, official social media posts, and parent email notifications (including SPAM) for any needed notifications or updates.
When inclement weather DOES impact the immediate Huntsville/Walker County area that requires a change or interumption to our normal school day such as a 2-hour delay start or closure, the District will send immediate communiation to parents through the use of the district/campus mass parent notification system, website, social media, local radio, as well as Houston & Bryan/College Station television stations. We will always make every effort to make the earliest decision possible for families should changes be necessary; however, oftentimes, those decisions cannot be made until we know the true impact for our immediate area. Understand that we do not make these decisions lightly nor do we make them based on the decisions of other surrounding school districts and communities. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. We encourage parents to always make the decision they feel is best for their own family and circumstances.
