As part of HISD’s ongoing commitment to equip students with the ability to make informed decisions relative to their personal health and safety while being in compliance with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), a 7-lesson Health and Human Sexuality Unit will be taught beginning May 12th, 2025, in their 7th-grade science class.

Attached you will find a copy of the MPMS Health and Sex Education Parent Opt-In form that your 7th grade student received in their Science class today. Please take time to review the attached letter and the online curriculum before making your decision. The Parent Opt-In form is due to be returned to your student's science teacher before May 2nd, 2025.

CURRENT TIK TOK CHALLENGE:

Parents, we wanted to make you aware of a current Tik Tok challenge that is sweeping the nation regarding senior high students. Teens are challenged to play a game where they are selecting certain senior students to target. The challenge is called "senior assassin". In some instances across the nation, students are bringing toy weapons on campus such as water guns etc. to target a student. Please be cognizant of this type of activity on your students social media and assist us in educating them on the dangers of such activities. This type of behavior creates potentially dangerous situations and can negatively impact the safe learning environment on campuses. We will be addressing this challenge with our MPMS students and assuring them that any violation of these expectations could result in serious disciplinary action outlined in our HISD Student Code of Conduct.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Mr. Josh Campbell

Principal
