Huntsville ISD Campuses Earn National Distinction as Capturing Kids’ Hearts® Showcase Schools
HUNTSVILLE, TX – Huntsville ISD is proud to announce that three of its campuses - Huntsville High School, Mance Park Middle School, and Scott Johnson Elementary - have been named Capturing Kids’ Hearts® (CKH) National Showcase Schools for the 2024–2025 school year by the Flippen Group. The district received official notification of the award on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
This national distinction recognizes campuses that go above and beyond in creating safe, welcoming environments where students feel relationally connected and eager to learn. The designation is highly selective, with only 867 schools recognized nationwide.
“This is a highly competitive and distinguished award for the best of the best—those that have greatly transformed their campus culture through the implementation of CKH,” said HISD Superintendent Dr. Scott Sheppard. “The Flippen Group reviews critical data including the percentage of classrooms routinely implementing CKH strategies, the program’s impact on student and staff behavior, and survey feedback from the campus and community. We are incredibly proud of these campuses for achieving this honor.”
Huntsville ISD extends congratulations to the leadership teams behind this success:
• Paul Trevino, Principal, Huntsville High School
• Josh Campbell, Principal, Mance Park Middle School
• Jennifer Barnes, Principal, Scott Johnson Elementary
CKH National Showcase Schools are selected through a rigorous process that includes the evaluation of key performance indicators, campus data, and stakeholder surveys. The Flippen Group examines indicators such as improvements in attendance, discipline, school culture, academic achievement, and social-emotional wellness.
For over 30 years, Capturing Kids’ Hearts® has provided tools and training to thousands of schools nationwide. Through experiential learning, expert coaching, and ongoing support, CKH equips educators to build relational capacity, strengthen campus culture, and improve the overall student experience.
Huntsville ISD remains committed to fostering relationship-driven school cultures, social-emotional wellbeing, and inclusive learning environments. The recognition of these three campuses affirms the district’s ongoing dedication to serving the whole child.
