Dear Hornet Parents and Guardians,
As we begin a two week break to celebrate the holidays, I want to personally thank you for entrusting Huntsville ISD with your children. We take this trust seriously and work hard every day to meet the needs of all students in our district. When this year started we had many questions and concerns related to schooling in the era of COVID-19, but together, we found a way to safely operate our schools and continue educating our kids both in person and remotely. It was no easy task, but it was made possible by the incredible work of our HISD staff, as well as the patience, grace and cooperation of our students and parents. We could not do what we do without you and your support!
In addition to overcoming much of what the pandemic threw at us, we have many things to celebrate when looking back at how far we have come in the past three years. We have shown significant improvement in academic achievement, resulting in higher district ratings. We have also greatly improved the image of the district, which is after all, a reflection of the image of our community. Hornet Pride is back, and our students reap the benefits of this community support.
Along with academic progress and success in preparing students for college and career paths, our extracurricular teams and groups have excelled. Our students perform at high levels, but most importantly, they do it with class and outstanding behavior. If you want to see it with your own eyes, come to our Area Round football playoff game this Friday night. We will be kicking off at 7:30 pm at Woodforest Bank Stadium in The Woodlands. You will get to see an outstanding football team, marching band, dance team and cheerleaders in action. They represent ALL of us with pride and are great ambassadors of Huntsville ISD. Get behind them and be a proud Hornet! Success breeds success, so every quality program we build helps every other program, including our “main thing,” which is of course core academic success.
I am proud of who we are and what we do in Huntsville ISD. As your hometown school district, we serve all kids, regardless of their strengths or challenges, and regardless of their backgrounds, beliefs, ethnicity, or economic situation. I am proud to be your superintendent and to serve the children and community of Huntsville. Have a safe and happy holiday season. We look forward to seeing your children in January as we continue Building Champions in Huntsville ISD.
