Did you know that October is National Bullying Prevention Month???
Huntsville ISD is proud to designate the month as “Bullying Prevention Month” to help raise awareness to this very serious problem among school age students.
Bullying occurs through face-to-face confrontation or Cyberbullying through the use of technology such as computers, cell phones and other electronic devices. Cyberbullying occurs with hurtful and often embarrassing messages via text, emails and online messages. Bullying negatively affects the atmosphere of a school and disrupts the learning environment. Bullying is not something educators have to accept. It takes the entire school community to create an inviting school where everyone feels they belong and are safe. Working together, administrators, teachers, school staff, parents, and students along with community support we can help stop bullying in schools.
Bullying is less likely to occur when there are strong messages against it. In an effort to spread the anti-bullying message along with good character education, throughout this month, several times a week we will share facts on bullying (both online and offline) and how YOU can help us Stomp Bullying Out! Keep an eye out for our first post coming later today!!!
