Ms. Shelly Riddler
Hey, Hornets! My name is Ms. Riddler and I am so excited to be your child's business teacher for the 2019-2020 school year.
I hold a Bachelor's of Business Administration from Sam Houston State University where I majored in Management. I have a varied background in the business field ranging from customer service and sales to technology education. I have a passion for teaching business topics to tomorrow's work force, including its accountants, real estate agents, hospitality workers, and managers in all fields!
Some students go to college. All students go to WORK!
I am a homegrown Huntsville Hornet from the Class of 2004. Huntsville High School is very special to me, as are its students. My mother taught business classes at HHS as well (2000-2012) and now I teach in her former classroom! In fact, I come from a long line of educators on both sides of my family tree! My husband and I live in Huntsville with our dog and 2 cats. Over the summer we celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary. I enjoy going to the beach, reading, cake decorating, and Netflix.
COMING SOON! (Our Master Schedule - and my personal daily schedule - are currently under development as we continually adjust to the academic needs and wants of our students. Please check back later once the schedule has been finalized.)
Thursday afternoons (3:40 PM - 4:00 PM)
Friday afternoons (3:40 PM - 4:00 PM)
I will provide one-on-one tutoring to my students on a by-appointment basis. I am available after school Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. I only ask that you make an appointment so that I know you're coming, or in case I have a conflict.
In very rare circumstances, such as transportation issues or parental request, I will allow a student to come in for Advocate during fifth period. Since fifth period is also my conference period, I must use this time to plan for the several courses I teach, contact parents as needed, and serve hall duty during D lunch.
I am at school every day by 7:20 or before. If you wish to use the lab before school, please make an appointment so I know to expect you.
Open Lab is a time for students to come in and use the software on a lab computer, but who don't necessarily need one-on-one tutoring. Open Lab is a great option for students who have been absent or those who have fallen behind in the coursework. Open Lab is offered Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday after school until 4:30 PM (or later with ample notice). My duty schedule prevents me from offering Open Lab on Thursdays and Fridays.
My Conference Period
Parents are a teacher's number one asset in the classroom! It is my firm belief that teachers and parents who maintain open and frequent lines of communication are a great indicator of student success. Within the first few weeks of school, you may expect a phone call from me to introduce myself and to let you know what your child can expect in their class.
As such, I will make every effort to make myself available to the parents of my students. My daily conference period is from 11:13 AM - 12:08 PM. (This may change slightly if we are on an activity schedule or pep rally schedule.) However, I can meet or speak with you before or after school as well.
I am happy to meet with you in person or schedule a phone call at your convenience.
My email address is email@example.com.
You can also find me on Google Hangouts (instant messaging service) at the above email address.
My phone number is 936-435-6100, Ext. 2904.
Please contact me immediately if you have any questions or concerns.
