If you plan to provide snacks for your child's classroom, I would like to make a few healthy suggestions. Snacks are important, but high sugar foods will hinder your child's learning. Here are some suggestions:
*canned, dried or fresh fruit
*applesauce
*raisins
*bagged veggies with yummy dip
*whole grain cereals
*flavored rice cakes
*whole grain granola bars
*cheese and cracker packs
Dear Parents,
We are asking for your cooperation in protecting the welfare of our students while they attend school. We hope this information will be useful. We ask your child be excluded from school activities for any of the following:
- Fever accompanied by other signs and symptoms (sore throat, rash, vomiting, diarrhea)
- Diarrhea (more than two loose stools or if it causes an “accident”)
- Vomiting more than two times in 24 hours
- A suspected communicable condition
We will also ask you to keep your child home/come pick up your child if his/her illness prevents him/her from participating comfortably in activities as determined by school staff or if the illness results in a greater need for care than the staff determine they can provide without compromising their ability to care for other children.
Please keep the school office informed of any change of address or telephone number, including your work number and extension. This is extremely important in case of any unforeseen emergency or illness and we need to contact you.
Students are not allowed to transport any medication to or from school, including cough drops. All medication must be brought to the nurse by a parent/guardian and a permission slip signed before it can be given. Also, no over the counter medications will be given to your child without a signed note from your physician. All medications to be given at school must be in their original container.
Feel free to call me if you have any questions regarding your child’s health or to inform me of any health problems you feel I should be aware of. Thank you for helping us provide a safer and healthier school for all of our children. They are all special.
