As of July 23, 2021, Huntsville ISD is preparing for all scenarios but currently we are planning on returning to school this fall with as close to normal pre-COVID operations as possible under full capacity with traditional in-person instruction.
Due to the Texas Education Agency not extending funding to school districts to continue providing virtual educational options, Huntsville ISD is NOT currently planning to offer a Remote Learning option. We are still working in direct contact with the Walker County Health Authorities and the Texas Department of State Health Services and we continue to monitor COVID-19 and its impact in Walker County and the surrounding area. We will certainly reconsider our position on remote learning should the funding situation change or should we receive direction from the authorities to do so.
We do plan to continue with some of the COVID-19 safety precautions to include extra cleaning and disinfecting of our buildings and buses, encouraging the frequent use of hand washing and hand sanitizer, and social distancing where practical. These efforts proved extremely effective in fighting the spread of COVID-19 during the 2020-2021 school year. Wearing face masks will be optional for students and staff at this time but we do highly recommend them for those who have not yet been fully vaccinated.
The Hornet Return to School Plan is in its final stages of development and we anticipate releasing it to our families very soon.
