Mr. Scott Wm. Bumbaugh
Hallo! ¡hola! My name is Scott Bumbaugh and I have the great pleasure of teaching German 1, Pre-AP German 1, German 2, Pre-AP German 2, Pre-AP German 3, AP German 4, and Spanish 2 this year. Although it might seem like a crazy schedule, I am very excited about it.
Contact information:
My school phone number is 936-435-6100 ext. 2007.
My school e-mail is sbumbaugh@huntsville-isd.org.
My conference period is 8th period (2:54-3:40). I am also available for a parent-teacher conference before school and after school except on Wednesday and Friday mornings, when I have duty.
I will do my best to send the parents a daily e-mail with the day's homework (if any) and the dates of any up-coming projects, quizzes, and tests. I will do so for the students via my Remind account. Parents may also sign up to receive a daily Remind message. Click under the appropriate page to find the Remind code for that particular class.
A little about me: I was born in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and am very proud of my roots. My father served in the U.S. Army as a medic, and we lived in many different states (Pennsylvania, Maryland, Missouri, Colorado, and Oklahoma) and countries (Germany). I truly feel blessed to have had this opportunity, because it has enriched my life tremendously. I learned German in Germany, where my family lived for five years. Following my graduation from Eisenhower High School in Lawton, Oklahoma, I spent my freshman year at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. I then served a two year church mission in Kobe, Japan, which was another tremendous experience for me. Upon returning from Japan, I moved to Huntsville, Texas, where I attended Sam Houston State University, graduating with a major in German and a minor in Spanish. I then completed my Master's in Political Science at Sam Houston State.
While here in Huntsville, I met my then future wife in 1982. We just celebrated our 37th anniversary this past June. We have two wonderful sons, both of whom are graduates of Huntsville High School. I am grateful for the solid education and the great extra-curricular opportunities my sons had here at Huntsville High School. My oldest son graduated from Sam Houston State, and completed his Master's degree at Texas A&M University in finance and accounting. My youngest son graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in electrical engineering. Both my sons are married and I have the five most darling grandsons on the planet!
Why do I teach? I knew that I wanted to be a teacher when I was in the fourth grade. As I was growing up, I had wonderful teachers who made a difference in my life, and I want to do so in the lives of my students. This will be my 27th year at HHS. I love teaching and interacting with youth, and feel so blessed to have been able to teach here in HISD. I truly work with wonderful colleagues and am grateful for the excellent guidance from our administrators and superintendant.
