A Few Reminders

If you have not already registered or joined our class on the Remind app, please do so. I have been in touch with many of you via Remind already. Remind will be where I send announcements and communicate with you via text if you listed that as a preference over contact via email. To join Remind, please see the Home Page on this web site.
Please subscribe to this web site. I am hoping to begin making weekly posts about what we are doing in the classroom on this site. I will sometimes snap a picture during class activities and post it here. Be aware that there is a possibility that any pictures I post will be shared on Stewart Elementary's and HISD's Facebook pages.
Also on the site, there is a link on the menu to our class calendar where I will be posting what the kids need to be studying for or turning in. It is just an easy way to get some information to you without clogging up your inboxes or text messages.
Progress Reports are pushed back by one week due to Hurricane Harvey. They should be sent home the week of Sept. 25th. If that changes, I will let you know via Remind.
Please be sure you are checking and initialing your child's planner each day. They are using it to report their daily behavior to you and they earn a stamp for each day it is returned with a signature. They will be able to "cash in" these stamps later for things such as lunch with the teacher, lunch with a friend in the classroom, and other great little prizes.
Students do have daily homework for Language Arts. This should not take more than 30 minutes for them to complete as it consists of 5 problems each day. We do Monday's homework together in class and students take it home that night to do Tuesday's (they are labeled by day of the week) so they can show it to me when they return to class the next day. Homework is due each day.
Lastly, thank you so much for sharing your kids with me! They are amazing little people and I am excited to see their faces each and every day!

First Days of School

Our first days of school were a HUGE success! I am enjoying getting to know all of the kids as we settle into regular routines and learning gets underway. Hopefully, everyone has been able to stay safe and dry while school has been cancelled due to Tropical Storm Harvey. I am looking forward to seeing bright shining faces when school resumes on Tuesday, September 5th!
