Here is my……WHY?
Growing up I never thought that I would one day be a teacher. I knew that I liked kids, and I enjoyed working with them, but I never thought about being a teacher. I never even thought college would be in my future. My plan was to graduate high school and start working like everyone else in my family had done. I had never been encouraged to do more or be more. Then, in my senior of high school, I developed a friendship with a co-worker. She was a student at SHSU and was working on getting her degree in Education. Often times I would help her with various assignments and projects. She kept telling me that education must be in my blood, that I was a natural. My friend had family that worked in a school, and I would go with her to visit classrooms and soon I started to feel that maybe my future could be more than just that high school diploma. While my relationship with this person brought me to teaching, it is the relationship with students and the learning that I see that keeps me here. I want to be the person that can encourage students to do and be more!
