I'm back...and proud to be a Hornet again! After serving as the Vocatioanal coordinator and transition specialist at Willis ISD for many years, four years ago I decided to come back to Huntsville and teach in my hometown. I currently am an inclusion teacher at Huntsville Intermediate School. Formally known as Melissa Haglund in my previous years of teaching here in Huntsville, my name is now Melissa Lee. This year marks my 22nd year in education- 9 of those 22 years have been in Huntsville ISD. I taught resource math in special education, coached basketball, and was an assistant varsity volleyball coach at the high school with Coach Debbie Hightower. And yes, the other assistant coach was my twin sister, Theresa Menges (Messina back in the day). All of my 22 years have been in the special education field. I love my special needs kids and love seeing the smiles on their faces when they reach their goals or learn something new.
The joy in my life who keeps me busy is my son, Gage. He is 11 years old and is a 6th grader this year at Huntsville Intermediate. We stay busy with baseball- his elite traveling team, Texas Thunder, just completed a great year with a second place finish at State and a fifth place finish at Nationals. Gage loves to hunt and fish. I do, too. Gage is also involved in 4-H and loves showing goats and lambs. Needless to say, we stay busy!!
