Welcome to Hornet Nation!!!

My name is Kimberly Merchant and I have been a teacher for 22 years.  This is my 14th year teaching at Scott Johnson Elementary, and my second year teaching 3rd grade. I am excited about  all the exploring, learning and fun we are going to have in 3rd grade.
I will work extremely hard to establish our classroom as a happy, challenging, comfortable, safe learning environment where we all do our personal best. I believe each child brings their own unique talents, experiences, and personality to share in our classroom; therefore, I  look forward to learning with your child.
Together we can make this a great experience. Thank you in advance for your support!
Why I Teach

When I was seven years old,  Santa gave me a chalkboard for Christmas. I was excited to receive it because it gave me the opportunity to teach all my stuffed animals and dolls everything I knew. I spent countless hours happily pouring my knowledge into my imaginary class. My love of teaching was evident back then and has only grown over the years. I love teaching because each year I get to  pass my passion on to a new group of students. I love being apart of their new found love for learning.
