New Morning Procedures for Students Reporting to Class
As you know, the safety of your child while at Samuel Walker Houston Elementary is our first priority. As we continuously search for new and better ways to make our campus more secure, it has come to our attention that we need to restructure our morning procedures.
Please review the following procedures:
- To better monitor who is in the building at all times, all students are to be dropped off in the front entry way of the campus or foyer area. To ensure your child's safety and well-being, we ask that parents not escort students to the classroom.
- Staff members will be on duty to assist children to class each morning. Teachers will be assisting students with breakfast and holding "classroom community time" during breakfast time (7:30 AM - 7:55 AM).
- Instruction will begin immediately after announcements are held at 7:55 AM.
- If you need to speak with your child's teacher, please schedule a conference during the teacher's scheduled meeting/conference time.
For confidentiality and safety purposes, we ask that you please understand the importance and change in morning procedures. We greatly appreciate your trust, support, and cooperation in making our school a safer place to learn.
