We have had a great start to this new school year! We really appreciate your involvement and look forward to lots of SUCCESS at HES! This year our campus enrollment is up which has contributed to the increased traffic congestion in our pick up and drop off lines. Certain procedures are being added to our morning processes and we urge you to help us in our efforts to maintain a safe environment for our students both inside and outside of the classroom. We welcome you to our campus anytime! Our official school day begins at 7:55 am and ends at 3:30 pm. If you visit our campus during those times you are always required to check in with the front office. We encourage you to drop your student off in the morning and allow our staff to welcome them and guide them onto their classroom as this promotes increased self-confidence and independence. However, if you are more comfortable walking your child(ren) to the classroom, we ask that you do a few things for us. Please park along MLK Drive just past the school's main driveway to the right hand side of the road and use the sidewalk up to the front doors. Additionally, any parent desiring to walk students to the classroom between 7:30 am and 7:55 am will be allowed, but you will need to sign in at the front doors and obtain a visitors badge in order to proceed to the classroom. Once the official school day starts all visitors should be out of our classrooms and hallways, so we can avoid any delay or interruption to the instructional environment. We appreciate your cooperation and as always request that you use extreme caution in our school zone. Bus services through the HISD Transportation Department is certainly an option for any family looking for an alternative to the traffic. Bus registrations are accepted daily either online or in person.
Thank you so much for helping us with this important matter to ensure everyone's safety.
