Thank you for following the procedures below to help with morning and afternoon traffic flow. The safety of our students is always the most important.
- The front doors will open at 7:30 a.m. Please do not drop your child off before 7:30. Students will be unattended before 7:30.
- Students will continue to be provided breakfast daily from 7:30-7:55.
- Only HISD employees will be allowed to be dropped off at the bus loading/unloading area at the side of the school. HISD employee children can be dropped off between 7:00-7:30 in that area.
- The district is allowing parents to walk their children in to class for the first two days of school. Parents wanting to walk their children to the front of the school need to park in the front parking lot. Feel free to “Hug and Go” in front of the school. If you need to visit or schedule a meeting with the teacher, we ask that you see the receptionist to leave a note, or call the school to schedule an appointment.
Thank you for following the procedures below to help with morning and afternoon traffic flow. The safety of our students is always the most important.
Dismissal: We will release students at 3:30. Please continue to be patient with us as we continue to refine our card rider loading process. The first week of school is usually difficult due to the number of students who have not yet registered to ride the bus. The line length will be reduced after the first week. Thanks again for your patience.
There are several ways students can go home:
- Walkers: Students living in a .25 mile radius , according to their address, can be considered walkers. A form must be filled out and approved by administrators before students are allowed to be walkers.
- Bus: Paperwork must be filled out at the transportation department or online before students are allowed to ride the bus. Once approved, parents will be notified by the transportation department and a bus tag will be delivered to Stewart.
- Front Pick-up: Parents can wait in their vehicle in the front pick-up line and staff will load children into their cars. We do not allow parents to walk up and get their children during dismissal unless they are signing them out early for an appointment. This is for safety purposes. If your child is a car rider, please complete the car rider tag to place on your dashboard. This assists us in identifying your car when calling for the student.
- After-School program: Two programs are available for after-school care. Boys and Girls Club is located off campus. Parents have to register their child for the program and also register to ride the bus to Boys & Girls Club. YMCA is offered at Stewart. Parents have to contact both programs directly to register their child. Once registered, please notify your child’s teacher.
- Any changes to going home plans must be made through a note to the teacher the morning of the change.
- Any other changes to transportation must be made by 2:30PM in order to notify the teacher of changes by the end of the day. Please call the front office at 435-6700.
Thank you for your help in following our school arrival/dismissal procedures. We appreciate your understanding of the safety and security of all our students. Please contact the school at 435-6700 if you have any questions.
