Accounting I

The Week Ahead:

  • Acct. I Mar. 16-20

About this course:

  • Accounting I is a finance course recommended to students in grades 10-12 who have an interest in financial services, investment planning, banking, insurance or business financial management. This course potentially offers students a dual credit opportunity in Principles of Financial Accounting (ACCT 2301) through Lone Star College.

In this course, students investigate the field of accounting, including how it is impacted by industry standards as well as economic, financial, technological, international, social, legal, and ethical factors. Students will reflect on this knowledge as they engage in the process of recording, classifying, summarizing, analyzing, and communicating accounting information. Students will formulate and interpret financial information for use in management decision making. (To view the Texas Essential Knowledge & Skills standards, please click here.)

Be on the lookout for my classroom newsletter that will be emailed to parents at least every other week. In it you will find out what we've been working on this week, upcoming topics and due dates, and questions to ask your child to extend their learning beyond the classroom!
