Dress Code

**Dress Code for 2017-2018 school year is currently under review.
April 27, 2017
Parents of all HISD students:

Campus Principals are working on Huntsville ISD Dress Code Policies for the 2017-2018 School Year. These policies will be finalized and publicized no later than the middle of July 2017.

I recommend that you do not make any school clothes purchases for your student until you are notified of the Dress Code Policy for 2017-2018.

Howell Wright, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Education
Huntsville Independent School District
Dress Code effective May 2011 through 2016-2017 school year.
The current HISD Dress Code was adopted by the Board of Trustees on May 19, 2011, and is still in effect for the 2016-2017 school year.  The code applies to students in 5th grade through 12th grade.  There have been NO CHANGES to the current posted Dress Code policy for this new school year.
DRESS CODE UPDATE EFFECTIVE ALLOWANCE added October 7, 2013 to Present -
Spirit & School Sanctioned t-shirts now allowed!
Secondary Campus Principals (HHS, MPMS & HIS) have decided to exercise the "principals' discretion" part of the current HISD dress code to allow school spirit, or school sanctioned t-shirts to be worn any day of the week.  This means that students may wear t-shirts every day so long as they promote HISD school spirit, Huntsville Hornets, or school-sanctioned clubs/organizations as in the sample shown below.

Nothing else in the code has changed and shirts must still be tucked in with a belt.  Other t-shirts such as college t-shirts will NOT be allowed (those would only be allowed on announced days).  This allowance within the current code is a reward from principals to students, please keep in mind this privilege can be revoked at any time if abused.  If you have any questions please ask your campus principal.
